Idol Eyes

Since the Results Show is starting right now, I’ll make some brief out-of-the-gate assessments.

BOYS:
Sundance & Chris Sligh — my two favorites.  Not just for their looks.  These boys got the chops.  If Sundance ever has one more good performance, he could be dangerous.  Chris seems like he has the range to sing just about anything, but his personality may be a bit polarizing.

GIRLS:
I’m quite looking forward to Antonella’s Playboy spread in 6 months…  Alaina could be featured on one of the "Special Edition" issues…  that’s about all either can hope for.

Mandisa LaKisha was obviously the standout, best of all the contestants.  However, you can’t sing Aretha every night, and her one-dimensionality will only take her so far.  Sabrina was also lavished upon, and did well, but doesn’t have the "IT factor".

I like Gina to make the Final Four.  Spunky, Sassy, and with a powerful voice.

I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if Blake takes it all.  Has the looks, the confidence, the range (?).  Beatboxing under showers of confetti would be a pretty hilarious sight.

p.s who let Fantasia compete again?

You want to laugh. Cancel or Allow?

As much as I usually deride the "I’m a Mac. I’m a PC." commercials for being exaggerated and misleading (such as the recent "major surgery" clip that seems to ignore the pain suffered by Mac users moving to OS X), this one really nailed it.

It’s a dead-on parody of the new Windows Vista’s incessant security prompts which carefully double-check your permission when doing everything.  Even something as high-risk as… changing your screen saver.

Been running Vista for a few days now, and as a whole, it rocks.  But perhaps User Account Control will go the way of Clippy and Microsoft BOB…

Fluoride – Friend or Foe?

This interesting article the delves into whether Fluoride — added to our drinking water for the last half-century due its claimed dental benefits — actually does more harm than good.

Moderation being the key here, it seems like with the advances in dental care, and the presence of fluoride in just about everything we eat… we should rethink its mandatory mixing with our drinking water.  Let people decide how much of this chemical they want to introduce into their bodies.

(Makes me rethink our doctor’s advice to give Lindsay daily fluoride drops…)
